Fulfilling the Great Commission (Mathew 28:18-20)

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

More than 75% of Uganda’s population live in villages yet they are the most underserved regions of the country with poor infrastructure like roads, health centers, places of prayer, schools, among others that make it difficult for Ugandans to access social services on time.

This makes inaccessibility one of the biggest challenges that Born again churches face in villages in Uganda. For example, just three hours away from the capital Kampala is enough for a church to be remote and conveniently unreachable.  On insistence, one may incur extra costs like accommodation due to the poor state of roads and network connectivity that make the process of traveling time consuming, expensive and tiresome. Due to this burden, there is little networking between churches making the churches in villages isolated.

In villages, there is an extremely poor electricity supply, hardly any clean water sources and a devastating domestic system where toxic patriarchy takes the lead. The church has a lot of responsibility on educating the people, praying for them, counselling and mentoring them into Christ-like individuals yet they have no support at all.

 Infestation of evil altars;

In villages, almost every household has an evil altar in form of small shrines, baskets under the beds or in pots situated at specified corners or positions in the house, smoking of the pipe, bars, carrying out  animal sacrifice and child sacrifice. Additionally, there are many witch doctors claiming territory. This makes it difficult for Churches to be fully established unless they have a stronger spirit of God than the evil spirits from their altars.

Ignorance;

People may be aware of their calling in Jesus Christ but without knowledge and understanding of how to fulfill it effectively. So they are likely to start a church without any training or commissioning.

The Bible clearly states that we must study to be approved. However, today church leaders are most likely to casually open up a church without sufficient knowledge of the word of God which leads to personal doctrine teachings instead of Bible based knowledge and guidance.
